    Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Background:
The Sanskrit word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”, the popularity and spread of Vinyasa Yoga came from two (2) main influencial Guru`s of our past; Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and K. Pattabhi Jois.
Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (November 18, 1888 – February 28, 1989) was an Indian yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar. Often referred to as "The Father of Modern Yoga," Krishnamacharya is widely regarded as one of the most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century and is credited with the revival of hatha yoga. Pattabhi Jois began his yoga studies in 1927 at the age of 12 with Krishnamacharya, and by 1948 had established the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute for teaching the specific yoga practice known as Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is named after the eight limbs of yoga mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. "Power yoga" and "vinyasa yoga" are generic terms that may refer to any type of vigorous yoga exercise derived from Ashtanga yoga.
    Course Synopsis:
    The Faculty:
    Jamie Lee
Bachelors in Kinesiology from McMaster University
Jamie is registered with the Canadian Yoga Alliance at the CYA-E-RYT 500 level.

Yoga found its way into Jamie’s life as a method of injury prevention while training for Triathlon and Ironman throughout university. Having made Triathlon Canada’s National team twice (junior and age-grouper), the motivation to race and compete slowly changed its focus from a health regimen, to a more holistic approach to health and happiness through yoga asana and meditation. Jamie has been intensively studying Hatha, Ashtanga and the Iyengar systems of yoga ever since. Currently his yoga teaching and philosophy draws wisdom from both the Ashtanga and Iyengar systems.
    Guest Teachers:
    Selena Isles
Often called the Urban Yogi, I am a Yoga teacher, yoga studio owner, international DJ and single mother.
My mother was my first teacher as yoga has been with me since birth. It was in those discoveries and her guidance and teachings that I realized that Yoga had been with me, weaving in and out of my childhood and adolescence and I ran from it at every turn.
Today I work at blending the alchemy of my own practice with my years of studentship. I do not to teach yet allow the practice to emanate from me, letting awareness blend with movement and breath. My practices are dynamically focused classes that force you into the present moment, using a bit of urban vernacular. In 2016 I started to move away from the Hatha Tradition and explore the Ashtanga traditons of my fore fathers, diving deep into deeper realms of self realization.
    Veronique Landry
Véronique tried her first Yoga class in 2006, in Toronto. Active since childhood with a philosophical spirit and no less fascinated by spirituality, this new experience seemed to come down from heaven, just for her. Thereupon, she decided to get certified, to become a teacher and make yoga her living. She pursued her modelling career with this project in mind, knowing she would be ready the moment the timing would be favourable. In 2016, 10 years later, that moment came. She finally went through her 200-hour YTT in Ashtanga Vinyasa to bring her practice to the next level. She is now able to fulfill herself by sharing her knowledge and experiences. For Véro, Yoga is every moment of the day, it is a balance between one’s life discipline, personal choices and faith directed in the infinite love and power the universe holds.
    Peter Lavoie
One word to describe Peter's background in movement is eclectic. Volleyball, Kung Fu, Capoeira, Gymnastics, and Yoga have all had an important influence on his posture practice. In Yoga, he found a method that managed to bring together all of his interests: holistic health for the body, mental fortitude and focus, and spiritual integration. He has over 1000 hours of formal yoga training, having participated in curriculums created by Mark and Shankara Darby, Elizabeth Emberly, and Georg and Brenda Feuerstein. He has also been deeply influenced by time spent learning with Richard Rosen, Mark Singleton, Baxter Bell, Matthew Remski, Michael Stone, and François Raoult. Peter's personal studies have lead him to focus on yoga philosophy and history, meditation, and bio-mechanial tools to optimize flexibility, strength, and all-around health.
    Sacha Mathew (Shantidas)
Sacha Mathew (Shantidas), M. A. is dedicated to the study and exploration of Yoga at its deepest source. In addition to being a student of A.G. Mohan’s, he holds a Master's degree in History and Philosophy of Religion, concentrating on Yoga. Sacha teaches all aspects of Yoga, as well as Indian socio-cultural history; topics on which he has been invited to lecture in universities and Yoga teacher trainings. He is committed to continuing his study but also to sharing what he has learned with those interested in digging a little deeper. His lectures are designed to help Yoga teachers and students gain insights that will allow them to deepen their Yoga practice and thereby enrich their lives.
    Shantidas Yoga
    Terri McCollum
Ever since I can remember I have been interested in different tools for self discovery and expansion of thought. I believe this is what led me to meditation and the practice of yoga asana in my adolescence. Always active, asana was a great compliment to my other physical activities, and meditation a tool for calming and focusing my busy mind.
At 19 I took my first trip to India to study more deeply and intensely the practice and philosophy of yoga. That first trip took me to a number of Ashrams in Southern India, I developed a keen desire to know more about the history, language and culture surrounding yoga. This fascination led me to complete my studies in Asian religion and South Asia and to make several subsequent trips to India.
Over the years I have been blessed to have the opportunity to practice with many wonderful teachers in the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions. My personal practice is based in the Ashtanga tradition but I am strongly influenced by the Iyengar practice and therapeutic yoga.
I truly believe that practice itself, of all the limbs, is the true teacher and I hope to inspire and nurture my students to cultivate their own yoga sadhana.
"1 month after completing my 200 Hour Yoga TTC with Jamie Lee, I just want to share a few words about my one-month-intensive exprience... I am so grateful for Jamie Lee's devotion during the training. I knew him to be strict and very knowledgeable about the methods he teaches, sometimes making by impatient beginner mind frustrated as he wanted me to progress surely, one step at the time. This is what makes me feel (now I understood) completely confident regarding his teaching, or as I receive adjustments. Jamie also knew how to wreak havoc in our restricted minds, as we questionned many of our believes, through theory, chakra exercises, meditation... I had chosen Jamie's training following my instinct, as I was looking for a spiritual experience as well as a challenging physical training and a complete teaching course. I am today very grateful for my choice. I wanted an experience that would change my life in some way but at the same time did not really believe in this. Well, the end of the training coincided with many important changes in my life. For sure, it gave me the energy and consciousness to make important decisions. And I was surprised when some of my colleagues told me after, "You are a different person", "You are stunning", cause I had not realized how bad I had been feeling for the past months, and how bad I looked! :p Thank you sooo much Jamie Lee!"
    -Gabrielle Lebeau (2017 Graduate)

"I've always admired Jamie's dedication, discipline and passion for Ashtanga yoga. His commitment is the foundation of his very strong practice and amazing teaching skills. He's always seeking, searching and deepening his understanding of the body-mind-soul connection. And his TT is the best moment to grab the opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and curiosity. He values the effort, the discipline and the devotion necessary to a lifetime of practicing yoga. And you can expect nothing less than his very best during his TT. I deepened my practice on the mat with him before enrolling in his TT last summer. Jamie created a sacred space for us to unfold as teacher, using our stories, strengths and knowledge to build our own style of teaching. No questions were left unanswered, from the physical to the subtle body. The curriculum includes a well-balanced schedule of workshops, practices, meditation and spiritual teachings. It was a month of deep transformation. Not only have I found friendships that will last a lifetime, but I always now have a connection with a teacher I know will always be there to answer my questions and lead me to a healthy practice. He values the teacher-student relationship, being an eternal student himself. That's priceless and I'm so grateful for that."
    -Anne-Marie Archambault (2016 Graduate)

"Jamie’s teacher training was a fantastic experience. He’s created a great environment to gain an in-depth understanding of the Ashtanga practice, and his considerable experience really showed. He was always able and willing to answer any question that came up, and really helped me gain the skills I wanted as a novice instructor. My personal practice also improved, and now I feel like I have the knowledge to continue to grow in a sustainable, balanced way. Even though at times things were physically and mentally challenging, I wouldn’t trade the experience I had for anything. I can’t recommend Jamie’s course enough!"
    -Kevin Hamdullahpur (2016 Graduate)

"I took Jamie's teacher training not knowing what to expect. Conquering fears of the unknown, fulfilling a strong desire to learn more about Yoga and overcoming a fear of public speaking are three things I got in what I can only call an intense life journey. Yes, one month is a very challenging timeframe to engage in on so many levels, but if you can make it work, you will realize how blessed you are to have been able to live it. Through the practice-teaching and Chakra work, I was able to find my own true teaching voice. I felt so comfortable with Jamie as my guide not only in asana, but in meditation, nidra, and even how to bring yoga into the world, that I would not hesitate to recommend his training to anyone. It is refreshing to have a teacher who practices what he preaches, and who does not hesitate to call upon experts in related fields. If you are looking for a complete YTT, this fits the bill. You will not just learn the basics, you will delve much deeper than you could ever expect."
    -Lisanne (2015 Graduate)

"Jamie Lee’s Ashtanga Teacher Training Program completely changed the way I look at and practice yoga. It made me a more reflective (inner and outer) person. Jamie Lee took the material and made it comprehensive and added his experiences to make the course amazing. The course does not only teach you how to be a great yoga teacher but a more complete person. The program focused on all kinds of aspects of yoga from sequencing and pranayama to anatomy and meditation. I didn’t think I was physically ready to do it at the beginning and was nervous. This program gave me the confidence and was very welcoming. Jamie is an exceptional teacher, he is very observant and gets to know every student. You can see he is very passionate about yoga which translates into this program. I am very happy I made the choice to take the program and would do it again. Thank you for the life changing experience."
